Follow Your “Gut Instinct” To Optimum Digestion !,
As we age, our bodies become less efficient and effective at processing nutrients we eat, whether they be fats, proteins, sugars or carbohydrates.
In fact, enzymes are responsible for virtually every single chemical reaction that occurs in our bodies. These reactions allow our cells to break down molecules quickly. Without enzymes, vitamins, minerals and hormones cannot function.
Digestive enzymes assist in maintaining and sustaining gastrointestinal health. They are the key substances of the digestive process, working to break down our food for proper absorption. The four primary digestive enzymes are:
• Lipase: Assists in digesting and assimilating fats.
• Protease/Peptidase: Assists in digesting and processing proteins.
• Amylase: Assists in processing carbohydrates or starch.
• Cellulase: Assists in converting cellulose molecules into simple sugars (glucose).
Our Western diet of overly processed foods, often devoid of essential nutrients exacerbates the situation worse. This is because processed foods often do not contain the digestive enzymes required for proper digestion and absorption of nutrients.
Enzyme-deficient foods essentially force your body to obtain enzymes from other parts of the body, just to digest, rather than utilizing the enzymes from the food itself to do the job, the way nature intended. This can also create inflammatory conditions leading to illness.
If you are among the millions of us who regularly take GI medications ( antacids, H2-recptor antagonists, PPI’s) to address GERD or other
inflammatory gut conditions, you need to pay particular attention to the importance for considering supplementing with wide-spectrum enzymes.
These conditions compromise a healthy gut microbiome and can often be helped by such supplements. This is one of many excellent
enzyme supplements to consider for the following reasons:
ADVANTAGES:
1. A wide-spectrum enzyme supplement consisting of 18 different plant-based enzymes.
2. Contains aspergillopepsin to support and enhance gluten digestion.
3. “Inactive” ingredients contain no controversial substances-no stearates, dioxides, polysorbates.
4. Dosage is only 1-2 capsules at beginning of meals depending on individual needs.
5. Made in USA in cGMP-Compliant manufacturing facility.
6. Clear, transparent Date of Manufacture and Expiration Date printed on bottle.
CONCERNS:
1. No statement of non-GMO on product bottle.
2. No desiccant included in bottle to help displace moisture
Bottle label: Could benefit from improved graphics and a more user-friendly redesign to increase readability, particularly ingredients list.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. An excellent wide-spectrum enzyme supplement helpful for proper and complete digestion of most foods.
2. Comparing many different enzyme supplements can be a challenge because many use “proprietary” formulations which do not require
full transparency, making accurate apple-to-apple product comparisons difficult and frustrating. In addition, not all manufacturers utilize the
same metrics (units of measurement) for each enzyme. This forces you to both interpret and decipher the metric and then do the math.
So, look specifically for top-rated products which identify and list each individual enzyme along with their respective amounts as you
do your product comparisons.
3. Since each of us have different needs, I would trial 3-5 of the top-rated brands and determine which works best for you.
Dr. Tobias is one of my new favorites along with DigestWise, Pure Encapsulations and Garden of Life Raw Enzymes (pricey).
Hope this was all not too “difficult to swallow”!

This product really works,
On my quest to get this fixed, I’ve tried these Enzymes and I have to say that now after two weeks of taking them I feel to better then ever. I actually can eat without worrying about the after effects. Of course, I still don’t eat the food that will cause issues (fried food, onions, etc.) but I have a feeling that these work even if I would (actually, there was some onion in the food I’ve had earlier today and I’m feeling fine).
I *was not* given a free bottle or have any association with the manufacturer. Just happy that it works!

Still unsure…,
After 3 weeks, I can say that I am still on the fence about it, HOWEVER, it HAS helped to some degree. I’m sure others will have more success, and some will have less. I’ve had moderate success, and am considering giving it another go.
