Got another quick video with Alan about low carb diets for active
individuals.

The most obvious benefit of low carb diets (ketogenic diets in particular)
is that they allow a person to satisfy his or her basal metabolic needs on
roughly 300 fewer calories every single day. For a multitude of reasons,
that’s a huge benefit to a dieter and rarely, if ever, gets mentioned.
There is an apparent dearth of basic analytical ability in the nutrition
community.

I like how even though Alan Aragon is an expert in his field he never takes
himself too seriously and can still joke around.

Let’s take my situation, I eat ~2500 kcal, 200 g protein. Would you say
that it would make any difference in regards to fat loss eating 270 g c and
70 g fat, versus 310 g c and 50 g fat?
February 6th, 2015 at 10:05 pm
I find that low carb diets can make you more carb-sensitive, when done
correctly.. It certainly helped me to do a low-carb diet for 6-8 months to
low body fat and then upping carbs gradually… Beforehand my body would
respond very poorly to carbs… now it responds fine.

Thumbs up for more from Alan Aragon!

I tried low carb once for a week. Was the worst. Everyone must die on no
carb is the only thing you can think about lol. I think most people feel
the same way, but I know one girl in the IFBB who does no carb all the
time. I think it’s been a full year with no carbs. Says she feels great and
much better than ever before.
I forget exactly who it was, but a girl in a Big J video was talking about
how before a show most people take carbs to get big before they go on
stage. She said her friend would go high fats right before. For whatever
reason her body reacted better to very high fats and less carbs.

A low carb ketogenic diet is better for fat loss than a low fat diet, given
equal calories and protein. Ketosis is lean mass sparing, whilst catabolism
is more severe with low fat diets.
There are keto athletes out there, but of course not many since this is a
relatively new approach and most athletes started with high carb so it
would be undesirable to suffer reduced performance for 6 months just to
become keto adapted.

low card diets
February 7th, 2015 at 2:16 am
Low carb diets are the worst on your wallet. Trying to get that 3000
calorie intake with no carbs is ridiculously hard. ESPECIALLY in Canada,
stupid high ass prices for all meat.
4 chicken breasts are $9.00 ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! lol

When speaking in terms of “higher volume/intensity/work load” in relation
to an increase of carbohydrate intake – what would high volume in a week
consist of?
Would you look at it as a total number of reps done by the end of the week
or total you plan on hitting each day? i.e. carb loading on a Monday, the
day before a moderate OR heavy session on a Tuesday.
For example, lets say someone works out Monday – Friday / 3 lifts per day /
3 sets per lift / 8 reps per set – at the end of that week they have
completed 360 total repetitions/week OR 72 repetitions/day. How would you
rate carb intake to volume of training?
Is there an equation for this or has this been talked about? Not sure what
“keyword” you would use. I know there is TEE but that doesn’t necessarily
directly correlate to total repetitions, or does it? And yes I know there
is the general rule of 1.5 grams+ per pound of body weight, but is there a
more precise way to look at it? -thanks

Kept protien exactly the same, cut carbs to under 40g per day, lost 28
pounds in 5 weeks, broke a state bench record at the end of the 5 weeks. I
call bullshit.

February 7th, 2015 at 5:46 am
Do you mean blood sugar levels instead of insulin levels when you’re
talking about steady insulin levels?
February 7th, 2015 at 5:59 am
Does this fat loss pyramid also work with intermittent fasting?
February 7th, 2015 at 6:57 am
The reason 60% of Americans are overweight has nothing to do with the
‘traditional food pyramid’ being wrong. Its because there’s too much food
and most people are eating far more calories than they’re burning each day.
The only way to really burn fat and lose weight is to eat less calories
than you’re consuming.
Furthermore, the idea that you must eat “enough protein” to maintain lean
muscle is also NOT backed up by science. Numerous scientific studies have
shown that even not eating at all for short periods of time – intermittent
fasting – even up to 3 days, does NOT result in a loss of muscle as long as
the individual doing the fasting is involved in a resistance training
program.
February 7th, 2015 at 7:18 am
Do you plan on updating your program to reflect these new findings?

Shaun going from one to the next video is not easy maybe when playing your
video 1 you should be able to go to Video 2 and so on…….all good though
like your 4 hour eating program……
February 7th, 2015 at 9:47 am
You say that every meal we have we raise the insulin hight at the point we
can not burn fat. If we are on depleting days when we don’t consume
carbs, that is the one the elevate the insulin levels, then would not be a
problem eat every 3 hours? Thanks a lot. Love watching your videos. Are
very helpful. Thanks
February 7th, 2015 at 10:27 am
I like the videos, but with all this info- it really seems much more
complicated than it has to be. Maybe this is for “stubborn fat” like that
last 10 lbs of already established dieters and people who work out for
years?
February 7th, 2015 at 10:34 am
It is literally impossible for me to find part 3 of this video series.
Swear you mentioned part 3 in part 2….
February 7th, 2015 at 10:57 am
is an insulin and leptin game also glucagon the opposite of insulin hormone
February 7th, 2015 at 11:08 am
My general recommendation (even on deplete days) is to eat every 3-4 hours
(instead of 2-3 hours). This slight difference will allow your insulin to
come down just a little further before you consume more food (even if it
doesn’t include starchy carbs).
February 7th, 2015 at 11:59 am
Do u have links for the other videos part two an three? Can’t find them thx
February 7th, 2015 at 12:05 pm
Finding exercise you like to do is key also. Don’t make exercise a job,
make it a hobby most of the time. Of course..we all have days that we don’t
want to do it, but after you do it you realize you just gave yourself the
best present….health!
February 7th, 2015 at 12:22 pm
I thought you said you ate most of your food within’ an 8 hour period, then
you said eat every 3 – 4 hours, meaning you eat two huge meals a day, is
that correct? Having a real indecisive time about cutting atm, my head is
blagged with an overload of information haa.
February 7th, 2015 at 12:53 pm
does a meal consisting only of proteins also elevate insulin because i have
myself a protein shake first thing coming out of bed in the mornin and then
have a balanced breakfast an hour later
February 7th, 2015 at 12:55 pm
insulin….lulz
February 7th, 2015 at 1:02 pm
The myth that smaller meals help burn fat IS FINALLY BUSTED HERE. What you
do when you constantly eat is keep your body with insulin levels up which
is an area where you just CANNOT burn fat…Glucagon burns fat….Throw
protein in the mix at every meal which takes more energy to digest so body
temperature increase. Also good fats are for satiety sensation. That way
you will stop binging on carbs.
February 7th, 2015 at 1:52 pm
My classmates laughed when I told them I would burn off fat with
“Xylphlike Fat Loss”, but then I showed them the results. Go and google
“Xylphlike Fat Loss” to see their reaction. (It was epic!)
